"Too long of a wait for this book, and the book gives the feeling that the author does not quite know where the series is going. Too many plots here going at the same time with continuous shifting between the plots. I did not particularly like one of the plots involving the twins and their messed up nanocytes. Was it really necessary to have the maturation accelerated. The emergence of a new enemy was nice as it guarantees more books in the future."

- This is the 24th book in the mainline series (21 in the first series and now 3 in this one), and I've been reading this long, but I'm giving up on the series. There's a larger story trying to be told, but most of the book is wish-fulfillment side-stories. Bethany Anne, or members of her family or immediate circle, deal death and destruction. In one unfortunate case the death and destruction are being dealt in a game, so the only contribution to the actual story is the affirmation that virtual Bethany Anne can kick a virtual monster's ass. It felt as if the author had lost interest. Whatever it was that made it worth reading the previous 23 novels was missing. I don't plan to read number 25 in hopes that it returns.
- I've read and loved this whole series but it's going downhill.
I think the author has lost interest but knocked something out just to keep some bucks coming in.
It was too long since the last book.
There are too many story lines going on at once.
There are too many characters mentioned to remember if I'd read about them before and, if so, under what circumstances.
Didn't seem like there was an actual plot - just cobbled together stories. - This book felt very “herky-jerky†to me. There was too much crammed into it too many separate plot lines, many seemed to have no purpose, but not in that “setting up future plot development†way; too many characters, with main ones acting out of character, showing no character growth, and worse, reverting. Still don’t like the 4-year olds acting/talking like teenagers - I’m glad they’re being aged out of this ridiculousness.
I absolutely love the Kurtherian Gambit series and re-read them often. Which is why I’m so disappointed in the Kurtherian End Game - I still buy and read them, hoping there’ll be a major course correction back to the quality of KG. But at some point soon, I’ll stop the insanity (doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results). - Too long of a wait for this book, and the book gives the feeling that the author does not quite know where the series is going. Too many plots here going at the same time with continuous shifting between the plots. I did not particularly like one of the plots involving the twins and their messed up nanocytes. Was it really necessary to have the maturation accelerated. The emergence of a new enemy was nice as it guarantees more books in the future.
- BA is my favorite character in my favorite series! I love this book so much because of the family time and relationships. I, also, love the banter between the characters. My favorite in this book is, "Yes, Dad, Eve replied. We’ve also been to the bathroom, and we have our names printed in our underwear. I understand that I have to finish my vegetables and say yes sir and yes ma’am. May we go and do our job now?†There was a pause before she came back online, her voice a touch more contrite. “Please?â€
- Gosh I loved this book! Lots of different plot lines weaving together, humor, dinosaurs (!), new antagonists and so much more. Old and new friends and still the Kurtherians lurking somewhere in space.
For fans of “hard†sci-fi the bits with the twins may not resonate but I find it deepens the character development of BA and Michael. Good stuff with Tabitha and Peter as well. Highly recommended for TKG fans. If you haven’t discovered this author /series start with Death Becomes Her and enjoy the ride! - It’s great to see BA and Michael together taking on the last, hopefully, of the destructive Kutherians. I really enjoyed all the many facets of life in the surrounding worlds. As soon as the kids and Tabitha and Peter are released from the Vid Docs we will see more fascinating fireworks at the Nacht homestead. Hehe. Seems like the Queen has had her mommy time but the demands of her position will keep her in action. I am glad since I will be looking for more!!!
- surprit's becoming a mixing bowl of people simmering until they are ready. The babes are learning but having issues unexpevted of the young. BN's people, her warriors are getting hurt and killed by something not all alive. And there is another surpriise coming from the Tabby corner. It all leads up to a storyline filled with humor, angst, fear, and lots of red and yellow eyes. Can't put it down and can't wait for the next chapter.
